Who can still travel to Canada?
By order of the Prime Minister of Canada, in order to protect Canadians from the Covid 19 outbreak, most unnecessary trips to Canada have been canceled and most foreign nationals cannot travel to Canada; But there are exceptions.
Who can enter Canada?
People who can travel to Canada include:
Canadian citizens
Canadian dual nationals with
A valid Canadian passport or
Special license
Permanent residents of Canada
Individuals registered under Indigenous Canadian law
Protected people
Foreign nationals eligible to travel to Canada
First-class family members of Canadian citizens who:
Indigenous to Canada registered or resident, and
They intend to stay in Canada for 15 days or more.
First-class family members staying less than 15 days must travel for an unnecessary purpose.
Extensive family members of Canadian citizens who:
Indigenous to Canada registered or permanently resident,
Intend to stay in Canada for 15 days or more, and
They have a written authorization from the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship of Canada (IRCC).
People traveling to Canada for humanitarian reasons should:
Are licensed by the Public Health Agency of Canada, and
Eligible first-class family members, extended family members, or other foreign nationals are allowed to enter Canada.
Humanitarian reasons include:
Attending the last moments of life for a loved one
Support for someone who is considered seriously ill
Caring for someone who needs medical support
Participate in the funeral
Other foreign nationals who:
Travel directly from the United States for an unnecessary reason, or
Exempt from travel restrictions and travel for an unnecessary purpose.
All of these individuals must have a quarantine plan that shows how they will complete the 14-day quarantine upon arrival in Canada (having this plan is mandatory).
Public health measures for Canadian travelers
Passengers arriving in Canada by air are required to:
Perform a medical examination before receiving permission to board your flight
When traveling, use a non-medical mask or face mask (until you reach your quarantine location)
Passengers arriving in Canada by air, land, or sea are required to:
Provide the passenger contact information form through the "ArriveCAN" program or the paper form
Be screened for symptoms by a border guard or quarantine officer
Requirements for quarantine
Passengers' health will be checked upon arrival in Canada and before crossing the POE. Foreign nationals who show signs of Covid 19 are not allowed to enter Canada.
Travelers to Canada must have a 14-day quarantine schedule, which includes:
A place to stay
How to get to the desired location
How to access essential items and medical care
Even if people have no symptoms, they are required to have this program. Otherwise, they will not be allowed to enter the country. Border service officers will confirm the arrival of passengers to Canada.
Penalties for non-compliance with the quarantine program after attending the country include the following:
A fine of up to $ 750
6 months in prison
Deportation of the offender from Canada and ban on entry for 1 year
Only people who provide essential services (for example, truck drivers who regularly cross the border to maintain the flow of goods) are exempt from quarantine.
